Bringing support into your home is a big decision. Here are answers to some of the questions families ask us most often.
About Our Care What is the difference between a Newborn Care Specialist and a Postpartum Doula? Both provide specialized support during the newborn period, but their training and focus can differ. Postpartum doulas are trained to support the entire family during the transition after birth, while Newborn Care Specialists have advanced education focused specifically on newborn care, development, feeding, routines and sleep. Our team members provide hybrid care and are Certified Postpartum Doulas who have either completed or begun Newborn Care Specialist training.
Is Newborn Dream Team a placement agency? No. When you hire Newborn Dream Team, you're hiring our team—not paying us to find someone and then stepping away. Our providers work collaboratively, communicate about your baby's care and receive ongoing support and mentorship from our CACHE Certified Newborn Care Specialists.
Why do you recommend working with two providers? Because we've found that supported, well-rested caregivers provide better care. Having two providers also gives your family greater flexibility and continuity when someone is sick, needs time off, your baby's arrival date changes, or you need to extend your contract. Your providers communicate regularly so that care remains consistent from one night to the next.
Will I have the same providers throughout my contract? Whenever possible, yes. We encourage families to choose two primary providers who can become familiar with your baby, household and goals.
Can I request a specific team member? Absolutely. Requests are subject to availability, so booking earlier gives you the best opportunity to secure a particular provider.
How does the team communicate about my baby's care? Our providers maintain detailed records and communicate daily through a morning report. Abbey and Bonnie also remain involved behind the scenes to answer questions, troubleshoot challenges and provide mentorship when needed.
What happens if my provider is sick or needs time off? This is one of the biggest advantages of working with a team. We will make reasonable efforts to provide another qualified Newborn Dream Team provider who is familiar with our approach rather than leaving your family without support.
Sleep + Our Approach
What does “sleep-forward care” mean? It means we're thinking beyond tonight. Feeding, soothing, routines, sleep environment and the way we respond overnight all contribute to the development of healthy sleep. We meet your baby's needs now while gently building foundations that can support independent sleep as your baby develops.
Do you sleep train newborns? No. Newborns are not developmentally ready for traditional sleep training. Instead, we focus on safe sleep hygiene, age-appropriate routines, gentle sleep shaping and gradually developing healthy sleep habits without withholding appropriate feeding, comfort or responsiveness.
Do you follow safe sleep guidelines? Yes. Safe sleep is non-negotiable for our team. Our care practices follow current American Academy of Pediatrics safe sleep recommendations.
Will you support breastfeeding, pumping or formula feeding? Yes. We support your family's feeding choices and can work alongside your pediatrician, lactation professional or other members of your care team when needed.
What if our parenting preferences are different from yours? That's okay. Our role is to educate and support, not judge. We work with families who make many different choices about feeding, schedules and parenting. We will always communicate honestly about safety concerns, but personal parenting choices are yours to make.
Scheduling + Booking
How far in advance should we book? Availability varies throughout the year, and families requesting a particular provider or a larger number of weekly shifts will generally have more options when they book early. That said, babies don't always follow calendars. If your baby is already here—or you suddenly realize you need help—please reach out. If we have availability, we're happy to help.
Is there a minimum commitment? No. If we have availability, you may book even a single shift. However, meaningful progress takes consistency. For families who want help establishing routines and healthy sleep foundations, we typically recommend recurring support over approximately 8–12 weeks. Some families accomplish this with just one or two nights per week when they're able to maintain the same approach on the nights we're not there.
How long do families typically work with you? Our goal isn't to make your family dependent on overnight care. For most families, we hope to establish strong foundations and help parents feel confident continuing independently within the first three to four months.
What happens if my baby arrives early or late? We understand that due dates are estimates. Our team model gives us more flexibility than relying on a single provider, and we'll work with you to adjust your anticipated start date whenever possible.
Can we extend our contract? Usually, subject to availability. Because our providers may already be committed to another family after your anticipated end date, let us know as early as possible if you think you may want additional support.
What is your cancellation policy? Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice are billed for the full reserved shift. If you release your provider early, the full scheduled shift also remains billable. If Newborn Dream Team must cancel and substitute coverage isn't available, you will not be charged for that shift. Rescheduled shifts must be used within 16 weeks of your child's birth.
Specialized + Travel Care
Do you provide care outside Fort Worth? Yes. Newborn Dream Team provides local care throughout the Fort Worth/DFW area. Select team members can provide domestic and international travel care. Travel arrangements and minimum commitments vary depending on provider, location and type of care needed.
Do you provide 24-hour or live-in newborn care? Yes. We offer 24-hour and live-in care for families needing more comprehensive support, including travel assignments. These arrangements are customized based on team member availability, location and length of care.
Do you work with twins or higher-order multiples? Absolutely. Multiples have been an important part of our story from the beginning, and our team-based model works particularly well for families who need more extensive coverage.
Do you work with premature babies or NICU graduates? Yes. We have experience supporting premature babies and NICU graduates and are comfortable collaborating with your baby's medical team when appropriate. The baby's individual medical needs will be discussed before care begins so we can determine whether our team is the appropriate level of support.
What if I need sleep consulting but don't need overnight newborn care? You don't need ongoing newborn care to work with us. We offer separate sleep services for families who need help with routines, independent sleep or age-appropriate sleep challenges, including virtual and in-home options.
Pricing + Getting Started
How much does newborn care cost? Overnight newborn care currently starts at $45/hour, and daytime postpartum/newborn care starts at $55/hour. Specialty, travel, 24-hour and sleep services are priced separately. We'll provide clear pricing based on the type and amount of support your family needs before you commit to care.
Can I use employer benefits for your services? Many of our clients use employer benefits, and we're familiar with the reimbursement process. Clients pay Newborn Dream Team directly, and we provide the documentation and proof of payment needed to submit for reimbursement. We're happy to offer guidance based on our experience, although reimbursement eligibility is ultimately determined by your individual benefit.
How do we get started? Start by completing our inquiry form and telling us a little about your family, anticipated schedule and the type of support you're looking for. We'll review your needs and availability, discuss which members of our team may be a good fit, and guide you through the next steps.
What happens after I submit an inquiry? We'll review your requested dates, schedule and care needs to determine whether we're able to provide the right support. If we're a potential fit, we'll connect with you to learn more about your family, answer questions and discuss provider availability. We want the relationship to feel right on both sides before care begins.
