After the birth of your baby, you may feel ways you never imagined. The postpartum period is a time of daily (and nightly) contradictions. On one hand you are overwhelmed with joy, love, and closeness to your new baby but at the same time you may feel sadness, loneliness, and complete exhaustion. All of this at the same time is completely normal because of what you have just endeavored physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually. Bringing a new human into the world is no easy task and sorting through all the advice from friends and family can be the most frustrating and alienating experience you ever have. Biologically, your baby is not in a place where s/he can or should be independent. There is no one right way to parent. There is no magic answer. As a postpartum doula, I listen to your wants and needs. I consider what is important to you and support you without judgement. I do my best to help you find balance while meeting your baby's needs. I care for not only your baby, but you. I am familiar with normal newborn behavior but also what is normal for a birthing person in the days and weeks following childbirth. Having an expert who is focusing on whole life balance after baby can build confidence and help you regain what is important in your unique life. I offer a more holistic approach to infant feeding, sleep, and scheduling than a traditional baby nurse or sleep trainer, who's focus is solely on getting baby to 'sleep through the night' no matter what the cost. I am not an advocate of 'cry it out' but instead help to gently create a sleep environment that leads to healthy sleep habits. I help facilitate predictability in feeding and scheduling with a focus on bonding and following your instinct rather than a rigid schedule. A healthy home can look many different ways for a family. It's up to you to decide what you are comfortable with and ultimately what works for your family. I am here to help you sort through that and support you in any way I can. I would love to work with your family in the Dallas, Fort Worth area if you want a more gentle and loving solution than a sleep trainer or baby nurse. Contact me today to reserve your space.
